World of Melissa: Back to Work, Workouts, and Leavin’ on a Jet Plane

You ever have one of those weeks where you don’t do anything spectacular yet the weeks is ABSOLUTELY amazing and you don’t really want it to end?

That was last week for me — I had the week off from work — I didn’t go anywhere — stayed around town — went places at times I usually couldn’t go — like Starbucks at 3pm or the gym at 10 am — it was honestly AMAZING. SUPER relaxing — which was MUCH needed.

However, all that is about to change when the alarm goes off at 5 am tomorrow morning — a new week is going to begin — but this one is filled with a SUPER packed schedule – back to work, workouts and a plane ride!

Back to Work

Back to work means back to SUPER busy schedule in which organization is key! I’m not always good at the organization thing but I’m trying really hard to perfect it! First thing to getting me ready for the week (especially after a week off) cute outfits planned and ready to be pulled off the hanger — doing this prevents me from having to think in the morning or getting frustrated feeling like I have ‘nothing’ to wear! When its planned I don’t allow myself any other choices!

Another key to my organization — planned meals! This weeks lunch — chicken — with a combination of some type of vegetable — tomorrows lunch chicken stir fry — minus the rice! Why no rice? New focus in the gym = new focus on the diet!

Workouts

Honestly – the best part about this past week has my ability to re-focus myself in the gym. There was no snow — there were no crowds — I was able to hit every workout and hit it HARD — I wasn’t exhausted after a long day of work and I wasn’t half awake at 5am — it was awesome to feel fresh and energized to workout. I also upped my cardio a bit — now I have 2 days of intervals and 2 days of steady cardio which I’ve upped to 30 minutes from 20.

WHY?

I’ve gotta get myself trimmed down for a Photoshoot — I’m still a few weeks away — which will give me time to play with my flat stomach diet and my cardio to see how my body reacts. After competing last year I have a lot less body fat to lose which will make dieting this time around different….

Airplanes

This has to probably be the MOST exciting part of this week — I’m leaving on a jet plane — headed for the wonderful Columbus, Ohio (which is gorgeous this time of year – lol). What’s in Ohio in March?! The Arnold Classic — yes yes — I’m heading to the Arnold for the second year in a row and I’m SUPER excited!  Its extremely overwhelming but its AWESOME to be around SO many people with the same mindset as you are — where its okay to walk around and eat out of a tupperware container!

My favorite part of this whole experience is probably to meet the people I’ve talked to on Twitter and Facebook — then create even better friendships! Last year I met Emily Lind and Lori Harder — this year I’m looking forward to meeting other inspirational women (Emily Lind and Maria Amantea) and MANY MANY more! If you’re reading this and you’re heading to the Arnold — make sure you leave a comment below and let me know!

Quote of the Week:

“All of life is a journey; which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.”

That’s all folks…..

I think that’s it…there is always more to tell, but I tried to keep this one short and sweet!

Would love to know what you have going on…..leave a comment below!

Hi, personally I find planned meals the toughest, trying to work around everything else that is going on.

Like the quote plus want to add one – it’s not about what life brings to you but what you bring to life!

    Have a great week.
