Have you ever felt that your ‘To-Do’ list is constantly growing instead of steadily shrinking – just like your waistline? You keep doing things that you think you need to get done, but somehow you still have more to do. The thought of doing leaves you both mentally and physically drained – searching for energy SOMEWHERE.
First of all — you’re not alone. Most women are constantly on the move and are at times doing five things at once. Finding the energy to do this balancing act can sometimes be the key to getting things done and feeling successful.
There are some days when it comes easy and naturally – while there are other days when you are just dying for an energy boost of some type — so how do you make sure you don’t crash and you have the energy to keep going?
First, make sure that you are mentally prepared for the ups and downs the day will bring. Unfortunately, we don’t know what each day will bring – some days are unbelievably amazing, while others have you wishing time would go just a wee bit faster to make it through. Being mentally prepared for the rollercoaster of the day will only help you deal with them better — in turn helping you stay on track to getting all done that you need.
Get Moving — Make sure no matter what the day brings you make the time for exercise – even though you may not feel up to it. Just remember — some time is better than no time — even 30 minutes of exercise will help your body re-energize and help you prioritize and refocus on the world around you. Giving you the mindset and energy to go forward with the rest of the day.
Curb Cravings - Stay away from sugary treats even though the temptation and cravings may be strong. Indulging in these sweet treats will give you a super quick energy boost – followed by a crash that will have you feeling worse than before.
Drink Water -Many times our energy levels are zapped because we are dehydrated. Grabbing a soda or fruit drink – while they may have caffeine can leave you with a headache later. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day — not only will it help boost your energy, water will help you curb your cravings and stay away from those sugary treats.
Smile – No matter how drained you are — find a minute to pause – and smile. Taking a minute each day to realize the good in your life – will help you keep going. Don’t have time — take a minute while you are driving in your car, or walking from one place to the next — being grateful is the easiest way to keep you going.
Next time you feel your energy start to drain – make sure you try one of these quick tips to help you stay focused and moving. I’ll be back in a few days with some of my favorite supplements to help you get through the 3 o’clock energy blues, but for now – drink some water and go for a walk!
I’d love to know — what do you do to keep you moving when your energy is low?
