Four Tips to Stop Emotional Eating and Reach Your Flat Stomach Goals

We are all victims of emotional eating. Its the simplest form of self-sabotage that will derail any flat stomach diet before you can finish your first ho-ho, brownie, or slice of pizza.

Its time to put a stop to emotional eating. Its time to stop letting life get in our way and eating because we had a bad day, a great day or a so-so day.  Its time to overcome our moments of weakness and make sure that no matter how delicious that plate of cookies look – you have bigger and better places to go – and those cookies will not help you get there.

Four Ways to Stop Emotional Eating

Brush Your Teeth

Next time you get a craving for a sweet go brush your teeth instead. Chocolate and spearmint don’t mix so well – not only will your cookie taste gross – but who really wants to mess up freshly brushed teeth?

Remind Yourself of Your Goals

Remember that you are working towards something bigger – fitting into those hot jeans, lose 10lbs, getting a flat stomach in time for bikini season, getting rid of flabby arms, or get toned legs that will look hot in those shorts this summer. Remind yourself that you are working towards a bigger purpose and that eating one of those delicious sweet treats and going off your flat stomach diet won’t help you achieve your goals any faster. Instead it will make it that much harder for you to reach them.

Write Down Your Feelings

Write down how you are feeling when you are craving these sweet treats. Writing down how you feel will help you not only notice patterns in your emotional eating, but will also help you get your mind off eating and hopefully help curb your cravings. Use the pen to express your emotions vs. sugar

Drink Water

Most of us don’t drink enough water daily anyways. Next time you crave a sweet treat grab a glass of water – the water will not only quench your thirst, but will make you feel full therefore leaving no room for dessert!

We are all guilty of emotional eating – don’t get me hard – there are some days when its REALLY SUPER HARD to stick to your flat stomach goals. But you need to realize who is more important – the cookie or your feelings of success and accomplishment when you can put on THOSE jeans? You make the choice…I know what I’m going for…only one option really – SUCCESS – I know you can do it too!

    Best way 2 curb emotional eating is the satisfaction after when u avoided it. Make a phonecall 2 a friend 2 get u through! Right?

    Great post. What has worked for me in the past is “adding” foods into my diet vs “subtracting” foods. Over time I kept adding and there was so many good foods I ate each day that I didn’t have room for the bad stuff.
