Flat Stomach Diet — Clearing Up the Diet Food Confusion

When trying to find the right foods to help you trim down your waistline and get a flat stomach — it can be tricky. Labels and advertisements claiming that this is better that can get your mind spinning and frustrated — leaving you to buy what you usually do instead of the healthier options.

So today I thought I’d quickly answer a few of your nutrition questions to help clear up the confusion and make sure that you have what you need to know to get a flat stomach.

Question 1 — Is turkey bacon really better than real bacon?

Actually – no. Turkey bacon isn’t made from just turkey, they add some ‘extra’ stuff to add flavor to the meat. Turkey bacon is leaner than the real stuff, and will have less fat (helping your heart and cholesterol levels), however, depending on how much extra they add it may not be a healthier alternative.

Question 2 — Can I use fruit juice to supplement my fruit intake?

I would suggest not to. In order to make fruit juice companies add a lot of sugar to make the drink sweeter and give way to the tart flavor most fruits would have.  If you really want to have a glass of juice — make sure to stick to the one fruit juices — they usually have less sugar. But if you REALLY want the health benefits of juice, make sure to stick with the real thing. A cup of blueberries has more natural antioxidants than a cup of blueberry juice.

Question 3  — Do plant proteins have the same benefits as meat proteins?

Not really. While plant based proteins such as nuts or legumes can provide a good source protein, animal proteins are the most complete form of protein available. Animal proteins have the greatest source of amino acids that your body needs to function and can give you the benefits of protein in smaller portions than plant based proteins.
