5 Tips to Speed Up Your Metabolism

If you want to lose weight effectively and efficiently, you need to boost your metabolism.  Going to the gym regularly is important for weight loss, but spending hours on the treadmill is not going to help you reach your goals any time soon.  To increase your weight loss you must increase your metabolism, or the rate at which your body burns calories.  With a faster metabolism, your body will burn more calories and fat, leading to faster weight loss results.  There are many factors that affect the speed of your metabolism, some things that you cannot change (your age, sex, genetics) and others that you can change.  I have just five quick things you can do to increase your metabolism today.
1)    Steady State Cardio – Get rid of it! Steady State cardio is not an efficient way to burn fat. Who has hours to waste running on the treadmill, to only burn fat for an hour after you finish your workout?  If you want to do cardio, Interval Training will prove more effective to increase your metabolism.
2)    Full Body Workouts – Muscle burns more calories than fat.  The more muscle mass on your body, the more fat you will burn for longer periods of time.  Full body workouts will hit all muscle groups, increase your heart rate, increase your muscle mass and burn fat for up to 48 hours after your workouts.
3)    High Protein Diet – Protein helps build muscle and repair your muscles after a tough workout.  As mentioned before, the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism will be.  This makes it very important to consume foods full of protein such as, chicken, fish, eggs or a protein shake, after every workout and throughout the day, to ensure muscle growth and increases in fat burning.
4)    Fish Oil – You can eat tons and tons of fish daily, or choose to take fish oil capsules (my personal recommendation).  Fish Oils are full of Omega-3 fatty acids, which have TONS of benefits. They help lower inflammation in your joints and muscles,  help prevent cancer, heart disease, and PMS, as well as help burn extra calories you are trying to get rid of when you are trying to lose weight.
5)    Eat Smaller Meals More Often – Decreasing the amount of time between meals, will help get your body out of “starvation mode”.  When you wait too long between meals, your body starts storing fat and stops burning calories, as it does not know when the next meal will be and wants to make sure you don’t starve.  If you eat more frequently your body will continue to burn fat throughout the day, knowing that food will be coming every few hours,  healthy meals and snacks are great options to keep your metabolism burning.
A fast metabolism means, fast weight loss results.  Start taking some steps to make your metabolism faster and your flat abs a reality today.
