No woman wants to look or feel old. If you do – then please stop reading this – it’ll be a waste of your time.
I for one, don’t mind getting older – there are SO many experiences and opportunities out there waiting for me – that I can’t wait to see what happens. But, I don’t want to greet these new opportunities with a wrinkly face, full of acne and thinning hair.I want to greet these new opportunities with the same confidence I have on the inside on the outside.
In order to do so, I’ve realized that its important to take care of your body now for the future. Working out keeps my body healthy and gives me energy and to make sure that my face and hair look the same way I need to make the time to take care of them too.
By no means am I the master and I learn new things EVERY day, but here are a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up to keep you feeling and looking forever young.
How to Avoid…
No woman wants to think that they are going bald. Especially when you are in your late 20′s, early 30s or even 40s! I talked to my hair dresser about the massive amounts of hair that were coming out of my head – worried I wasn’t going to have any hair by the end of the week. She told me its normal – our hormones change and therefore can change our hair texture. I did some of my own research and found out that a lack certain nutrients in your body, as well as increased stress levels can affect hair loss.
How to Fix it? Make sure that your diet is well-balanced and rich vitamins and minerals such as, B vitamins, protein and Omega 3 fatty acids. If you need too, try a multi-vitamin or add a B-vitamin and Fish Oils to your diet. Both have oodles of benefits that don’t stop at saving your hair. If you’re really concerned about how much hair you’re losing, check with your doctor to make sure that you don’t have serious health related condition.
As we age our cells start moving just a little bit slower. Combined with the fact that our skin starts to lose elsaticity and the unraveling of collagen in our bodies allows the appearance of wrinkles to form. If you love the sun, whether inside or out, the exposure to UV rays also increases the appearance of wrinkles. I’m guilty – I grew up playing outside in the summer – EVERY day as a kid!
How to Fix it? Make sure you don’t leave the house without sunscreen on – the simplest way to do this is to make sure that your face lotion has an SPF of at least 30. I’ve found a few great face lotions with sunscreen in them – my current favorite – Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF-30 – it feels light on your skin, but you know you’re getting protection from the sun – what more could you want! The protection from the sun will help to prevent further sun damage, therefore preventing the appearance of wrinkles. Another solution you may not have thought of – cut back on processed foods and drinking. These ‘bad habits’ actually add years to your life, and contribute to the premature signs of aging.
So you still get a pimple or two and you’ve been out of your teens for more than decade? You’re not alone. According to health research many people see pimples for the first time in their 30′s. The decline of estrogen, changing birth control pills or the additional stress of a job can make your face look like your back in your teens with pimples galore.
How to Fix it? Washing your face daily, using a cleansing solution at least once a week are two suggested options. making sure that the cleansing solution has salicylic acid with help to remove dead skin cells – allowing your pores to breathe, taking away the oils on your skin and prevent acne from coming back. Watching your diet is also a simple way to help get rid of unwanted acne. Staying away from greasy food and sticking to a clean, flat stomach diet will make sure those red unwanted friends stay away.
One tip other quick tip, that I’m also guilty of, keep your hands away from your face. When you see a new little bump we all like to touch it – DON’T! Touching your face just adds more oils, therefore giving new breeding ground to other pimples – stay away!
We all want to remain timeless. Since we can’t undo what we’ve already done, you can make sure that the future is better by adding some of these simple strategies to your daily routine. Making sure you take care of yourself now, ensures that you look as young as you feel tomorrow.
